As stated in an online obituary, she passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2023, due to injuries she suffered in a car accident. After almost an hour of treatment for cardiac arrest, an ambulance took Elizabeth Grace Burton, a business student from Charlotte and member of Zeta Tau Alpha at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to the Duke University Hospital. Two days later, she was pronounced dead. Burton was 19.Charlotte family calling for criminal charges for UNC student's death. 19-year-old Grace Burton died of an accidental overdose in March 2023, according to court records.
